Meet Jono…

Richard Johnson or more affectionately known as Jono is a former England international cricketer and highly respected professional coach with over three decades of experience in the game.

A tall right-arm fast bowler, Johnson built a successful career in the professional game and represented England in both Test and one day internationals during the early 2000s. Known for his pace, bounce and competitive spirit, he earned both his England Test and ODI caps in 2003.

At domestic level he enjoyed an outstanding career with Middlesex & Somerset County Cricket Clubs, becoming one of the country’s most consistent and reliable fast bowlers. Across his professional career he took over 750 wickets, earning a reputation for his work ethic, leadership and ability to perform in high-pressure situations.

Following his playing career, Johnson moved into coaching, working as an assistant & fast bowling coach at both Middlesex and Surrey CCC. He went on to become Head Coach at Middlesex CCC, where he worked with and helped develop and mentor the next generation of professional cricketers.

He has also worked with the next generation of England fast bowlers, coaching on the England development programs and for the England Lions.

As a level 4 accredited coach, he continues to share his expertise through Jono Cricket 360 Academy, delivering energetic, high-quality coaching sessions that focus on technical development, match awareness and building confidence in young players.

His philosophy is simple:

Create a fun, challenging environment where young cricketers can develop their skills and enjoy the game.
